Belief and Values - The Islam

Studying and living in a country that is characterized by the Islam belief was something completely different but simultaneously a very interesting opportunity to understand the people. To get to know the differences one would have to be open minded and confront themselves with the belief and values. Our Malay friends showed us a lot of impressive mosques and were very open to share with us their belief and place of worship. We discussed the differences in religions, Islamic thinking, values and the differences between the western beliefs for hours. After making several trips to very beautiful mosques with spectacular architectures, we accepted and understood rudimentarily the belief and values of Islamic thinking.

This picture shows a mosque in Putrajaya, the government city of Malaysia. It is a traditional and very beautiful and impressive mosque.

Many mosques have elaborate domes, minarets and prayer halls. Here you can see a very high tower in front of the mosque.

The mosque dome has a beautiful aura and a very good acoustic theme.

We were warmly welcomed by the people in the mosque.

The Malays prays five times a day and usually have an impressive act especially on Fridays where thousands of people will pray simultaneously.

Here, you can see a sharing and discussion session with our Malay friend Faiz shortly after lunchtime on the stairs.

The following three pictures show a modern mosque which was opened shortly before our visit. It has an innovative and modern architecture and it was really impressive to see the same intension of a building but completely different to the mosques we had seen before.

We sat for hours in that mosque and looked and talked to the people around us. If you show interest, they will show the same to you and share with you a lot of interesting information. We sat in the dome of the mosque and watched how the people prepared themselves before they pray and their different behaviors in the mosque. The place was very quiet and calm.

This is a typical praying situation in which a son follows his father, praying directly behind him.

Another man was sitting totally relaxed as he thought about something.

On the whole, it was not possible for us to even explain all the emotions and feelings we had. You would have to experience it yourselves to understand the belief and values of the Islam World. We want to thank all the people who discussed and gave us valuable insights to their religion, belief and values.
