Nightlife and more

First of all we have to say that Malaysia an especially KL has a great and versatile nightlife. There are so many things to see and to experience. On the one hand you have amazing night markets and other interesting places and on the other hand an exciting club scene.

We want to start with the night markets. These are incredible and exciting places. Everywhere there are people of any age and every class of society. They are places imbued with charm and many different attractions. At each stall you can try different local specialties, traditional clothes or just trash. There are two types of night markets, one which are more for the tourists with a lot of stalls where you can buy watches, sunglasses and DVDs. The others are more for the locals, and by the way they are much nicer. There are more stalls with local food and specialties.  The best way to experience a night market is with local friends, because they can show and recommend all the interesting dishes, for example fried Durian (a typical Malaysian fruit with a very special taste), or local pancakes with peanuts and there is so much more you have to try, but sadly you will get a belly after a while.

It is important to go out with local friends, because they can show you places where no tourists would normally go. These places are what makes Malaysia so special. Malaysia is a country where Malays, Indians and Chinese live peacefully together. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, you just have to talk to them and show real interest for their country and their life. And this you only can see in places away from the tourist spots. Here you can experience the real Malaysia and the charm of this country.

The next very important topic is the club scene. The clubs in KL are awesome and you cannot compare them to clubs in Germany. They are much bigger and more high-tech. Also the people in the clubs are completely different from Germany. First of all they are very open minded and interested in what we were doing here. Most people in the clubs are Chinese or Indian and all of them were trying to have a good evening together. The atmosphere in the clubs is very nice because everybody is happy and friendly. Everybody is singing and dancing together.

Most of the Malays are Muslims so they are not allowed to drink alcohol and they have to follow their praying-times. Hence, you would have to consider this when you want to go out with them. That is why you normally can’t go with them to clubs or discos.
The clubs in KL are open until three o’clock and then you have to look for an after-party, drive home or just watch all the high priced cars driving away from the club. There are a lot clubs we can recommend, but in our opinion the best is Zouk (http://www.zoukclub.com.my/).

We want to thank Rena and Faiz and all the others for showing us so many interesting and breathtaking places. Hopefully we can meet again in Germany and show you all the beautiful places there.
